Download the places database
The places database is published as-is, as a CSV file, under the ODbL licence, and regenerated regularly.
One row per place: identifier, position, family, category, features, description, creation date, and the source (OpenStreetMap import or contribution).
The export does not contain contributors' private data, reviews, photos, or bivouac spots.
Reusing this data
The ODbL lets you copy, modify and redistribute the database, including commercially, on three conditions:
- Credit the source. For example: “Data: Haltoo and OpenStreetMap contributors, under ODbL”.
- Share alike any derived database you redistribute.
- Do not lock down, by technical means, any version you publish.
The authoritative text is the licence itself: ODbL 1.0.
Your contributions
When you add a place, you release it into the shared database under the ODbL: most contributions then appear in the export, reusable by anyone on the terms above. A few categories are held back — bivouac spots in particular.
